After an intensive tour of my local Open Mic nights in December to help raise money for a friend, I’ve started the new year with just a handful of gigs. My first being the classic New Years Day at the Ship A Ground in Mort hoe. This is fast becoming the “New” New years eve as I hook up with friends and musicians like Peter Bruntnell, Dave Little, Chris Millington, Jenna Witts and Ellie Campbell as North Devon’s finest turn out for an all day festival in a pub!! Im sure next years will be just as good!!

Then there was Pete and my birthday hootenanny at The Kings Arms in Georgeham. Steve Cave was quite the host providing us with all we needed to make sure the night went well. Topping the night off was a DJ set from Wendy May Billingsly who managed to persuade everyone up onto our makeshift pub dance floor with her soulful tunes!! It was a great to see everyone out having a quality time.
Im playing this Saturday (5th Feb) at another local pub, The White Lion in Braunton to help raise money for a local gal who’s running the marathon. I will be joined by Amy Newton and we may even re-visit a couple of old C14 songs!!
Keep an eye on my website for gigs as I seem to be getting a fair few booked up and its always being updated.

Well its finally finished.
After years of playing in bands and writing for various musical projects I have finally written and recorded my first solo album “Daylight & Stars” (Although I didn’t do it alone, Thanks Mr Bruntnell) and it only took me 2 years!!
I hope it was worth the wait.
Making this album has been a great experience for me and a lot has happened in the last couple of years. Finding the time to record this album wasn’t always easy but when it did happen it was always productive and always a good laugh.
At times it felt more like a social event than making an album as I would hook up with Pete (with the occasional visit from Dave Little and Will Greeves)in is Mortehoe Basement studio. Plied with red wine and treats Mr Bruntnell would twiddle and press stuff and I would do my best to sing and play my newly scribed tunes. Im not quite sure how we got to “A Cornish Western (track 11) but that might come out in another blog.
Dave, Will and Pete did a great job of helping me colour the album in and the result maybe that this one is a little brighter in feel than the STM album “Monochrome.”
I would really love to hear your comments and feedback which you can now leave on the “sign up” section of my website (be kind to me)
Ill do my best to keep you up to date with all thats happening and may even write up the odd online blog when Im out on tour with Peter Bruntnell in March 09.
Thanks again for your support and encouragement.
I hope to see you soon.
Jim
